Diaspora buyers

Buy a home in Nairobi without flying in for every step.

Most diaspora horror stories have the same cause: money sent to the wrong person before the paperwork is checked. This process is designed so that can't happen.

  1. Private consultation

We agree on a budget, neighbourhood and goal: a home to live in, or one to let out. I'll send you a shortlist that fits.

  2. Live video viewings

I walk you through each home or show unit on WhatsApp video, at a time that suits your time zone. You see everything, including the neighbourhood and the street.

  3. Your own advocate

You hire an independent advocate, not mine. They run an official search on the title, through eCitizen or the Land Registry, to check for charges, caveats and disputes. For off-plan, they also check the developer's approvals.

  4. Check the agent

Ask for my current Estate Agents Registration Board practising certificate, and confirm it with the Board.

  5. Protected payment

Every shilling goes to your advocate's client account or the developer's designated project account. Never pay an agent directly, including me.

  6. Completion, from abroad

A carefully limited power of attorney lets someone you trust sign for you. Allow 60–90 days for the transfer on a ready home.

  7. Let it out, if you want

I can find a tenant and manage the property, with a monthly statement sent to you abroad.

This is general guidance, not legal advice. Your advocate will confirm current stamp duty and fees.
